Summer 2022 I was rewarded a fellowship for a self designed passion project. Below is a brief description:

I am proposing a trip around the nation to explore the significance of Asian American representation in murals. Murals are able to convey deep meanings and have cultural impacts on the community in which they are painted. Within the timespan of the summer I plan to visit 3-5 Chinatowns in the United states where Asian American themes are displayed in murals. Once there I plan to study the murals from a personal, historical and community vantage point. These aspects will be captured by filming the murals, narrating their meaning to me, and conducting interviews with locals and artists, if feasible. All will be combined into a documentary edited by me and presented as a showing to the Conn community in the coming fall. With this Fellowship, I will be able to gain a deeper understanding of art, my identity, and Asian American depictions by going to see different murals in real life and capturing them and their significance in the community.
